California is accepting applications to compensate survivors of state-sanctioned forced sterilizations. The California Forced or Involuntary Sterilization Compensation Program (CA FISCP) opened on January 1, 2021 and will be accepting applications through December 31, 2023. The establishment of this fund is an important step for California in confronting its shameful history and taking a bold stand against the racist, sexist, and ableist practices that perpetuate health inequities to this day.
