Maricela is a graduate student at the UCLA Fielding School of Public Health in the department of Community Health Sciences, where she will complete a Master of Public Health in June 2021. Maricela holds a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from California State University Los Angeles, and an Associate in Arts from Santa Ana College. Maricela’s training includes examining the implications of racism, discrimination, and chronic stress on health and mental health; and the influence of social determinants on sexual and reproductive health. Maricela’s lived experiences brought her to RJ and believes that RJ is foundational in achieving health equity and reducing health disparities. As the Research Associate Maricela supports CLRJ’s research projects and activities.
