Between 1909-1979 CA sterilized at least 20,000 people - a third of eugenics sterilizations nationwide. Eugenic ideologies and practices continue to seep into state institutions across the country.

It’s time to #CompensateSurvivors of forced sterilizations and #EndEugenicsLegacy

AB 15 would extend COVID-19 eviction protections and AB 16 would provide assistance to tenants and small landlords.

Join us for a virtual day of action tomorrow urgin Join us for a virtual day of action tomorrow urging Governor Newsom on social media to support the budget request to establish the Forced Sterilization Compensation Program.

Eugenics and forced sterilizations have never stopped in this country. It has been 3 months since news broke out of the forced sterilizations at the ICE detention center in Georgia, 7 years since a state audit revealed women in California State prisons were being illegally sterilized and 41 years since California repealed its eugenics law, which resulted in at least 20,000 people being sterilized in state institutions across California. How much longer must survivors wait for some semblance of justice?

CA led in this effort of social engineering, sterilizing approximately 20,000 people - one third of the national total - in CA state institutions. Contemporary justifications for this practice rely on the core of tenants of eugenics. - Natalie Lira and Nicole Novak. It’s time to compensate CA survivors of forced sterilizations.” ]
