Thank you @boldfutures for the reminder ❤️

A gentle reminder - be kind to yourself, give yourself space, and rest. It's been a heavy month. Mourning tragedy after tragedy is exhausting. Navigating those feelings while living in a "business as usual" society is exhausting.

We're holding all of our friends, family, and community members close to our hearts.”
🚨 BREAKING: POLICY UPDATE 🚨 We’re thrille 🚨 BREAKING: POLICY UPDATE 🚨

We’re thrilled to announce that yesterday, our co-sponsored bill AB2586 (Garcia) Reproductive Justice and Freedom Fund passed out of the First House! 🎉

BIPOC, LGBTQ+ and people with disabilities continue to face higher rates of sexual & reproductive health inequities across California. #AB2586 employs long term & immediate strategies that center the needs of those most impacted in our communities. Investing in building safe and healthy communities where people are all able to access the healthcare services that they need without any barriers to access is Reproductive Justice. Stay tuned as our other co-sponsored bill AB2223 (Wicks) Decriminalization of Abortion and Pregnancy Loss moves through the first house this week!

We must continue to support and fight for our collective right to bodily autonomy, the ability to decide if and when to parent, and for our familias right to live with dignity and respect in safe and healthy communities!

We join our immigrant community in great disappoin We join our immigrant community in great disappointment of Friday's late evening ruling by a Federal Judge to halt the repeal of Title 42, a racist, ableist, transphobic policy that uses the global pandemic to prevent migrants from accessing the asylum process and expedites their deportation processes.

Black and brown people seeking asylum at our border have had the door slammed in their faces with dire consequences. Every day that Title 42 remains intact vulnerable people, families, and the lives of children are sacrificed. Many have been stranded in Mexico, waiting for their chance to seek asylum for months, or even years.

We urge you to follow immigrant rights orgs working to repeal this racist, ableist, Transphobic policy including: @instabaji @haitianbridge @alotrolado_org @unitedwedream @undocublack @officialblmp @nilc

POLICY UPDATE 📣 We’re thrilled to announce t POLICY UPDATE 📣

We’re thrilled to announce that two of our co-sponsored bills AB2223 (Wicks) Decriminalization of Abortion and Pregnancy Loss and AB2586 (Garcia) Reproductive Justice and Freedom Fund just passed out of the Assembly Appropriations Committee! 🎉

In the past two decades, there has been a marked escalation in attempts to criminalize people for experiencing miscarriages or stillbirths, or for ending their own pregnancy outside the formal medical system. California has not been exempt from this trend. AB2223 (Wicks) Decriminalization of Abortion and Pregnancy Loss will ensure that no one in the State of California will be investigated for ending a pregnancy or experiencing pregnancy loss.

AB2586 (Garcia) Reproductive Justice and Freedom Fund bill, and companion $15 million budget request, seeks to address and eliminate reproductive and sexual health inequities by developing responsive policy recommendations centered in a Reproductive Justice Framework. BIPOC, LGBTQ+ and people with disabilities continue to face higher rates of sexual & reproductive health inequities across California, which #AB2586 addresses by employing long term & immediate strategies that center the needs of those most impacted in our communities.

We are honored to work with amazing partners, community, and legislators invested in building safe and healthy communities where people are all able to access the healthcare services that they need without fear or retribution. 🚨🚨Stay tuned for more information on how to take action as both bills move to the Assembly floor vote next week!

Deciding when, if, and how to start a family is Reproductive Justice!

This program is an important step for California in confronting its shameful history and taking a bold stand against the racist, sexist, and ableist practices that perpetuate health inequities to this day. The CA FISCP was co-sponsored by Back to the Basics Community Empowerment (B2B), California Coalition for Women Prisoners (CCWP), California Latinas for Reproductive Justice (CLRJ), and the Disability Rights Education and Defense Fund (DREDF) in collaboration with the Belly of the Beast filmmakers and team.
We want to acknowledge many folks are exhausted an We want to acknowledge many folks are exhausted and yet as a Reproductive Justice organization we cannot help but see the connections between the racist violence inflicted on folks across the country and our collective liberation.

"We accompany the communities in Dallas, Texas, Buffalo, New York and here in Laguna Woods, California in their grief, anger, and exhaustion following this weekend’s multiple attacks and mass shootings which targeted Black and Asian people. As we hold these communities in prayer, we take another breath to continue in our lucha against white supremacy.

All acts of systemic and individual, racially motivated violence including laws that attack reproductive rights, like abortion bans and restrictions, and our queer and trans families, immigrants and young people are connected. They are assaults against our autonomy, health, and safety as individuals, families and communities and manifestations of white supremacy.

Let us rage, cry, breathe, rest, and hold each other in our grief as we remember that we have made it through another day and we rededicate ourselves to our shared struggle for collective liberation." - CLRJ Executive Director, Laura Jimenez

The fight for Reproductive Justice cannot be separated from the fight to abolish white supremacy. ✊🏼✊🏽✊🏾✊🏿

This moment demands that we fight for a future whe This moment demands that we fight for a future where everyone has a right to decide if, when, and how they want to start a family. Where people have a right to bodily autonomy and where our communities thrive. #AbortionJustice is just one of so many of our rights currently under attack. We can no longer wait.

Mobilize & take action on May 14th! Visit Bansoff.org for more information on how to join an action in your area.

EVERYONE SHOULD HAVE THE FREEDOM TO DECIDE WHEN, IF, AND HOW TO START A FAMILY! 📣

🚨 The Senate is voting on the Women's Health Pr 🚨 The Senate is voting on the Women's Health Protection Act TODAY! 🚨

Every day without congressional action means that more and more people are being denied their right to abortion. Abortion bans disproportionately harm those who already face systemic barriers to health care, including Black, Indigenous, & other people of color, those working to make ends meet, young people, people with disabilities, immigrants, and members of the LGBTQIA+ community. The right to abortion is not real if only certain people can access it!

It’s time for Congress to #ActforAbortionAccess & ensure that abortion is accessible for everyone. Tell your senators to PASS THE #WHPA NOW! https://bit.ly/2PdwbzN
